Creamy Chocolate Avocado Smoothie

This is no ordinary green avocado smoothie - it's a creamy double layered chocolate version made with our cacao powder! It's great for satisfying those sweet chocolate cravings without the sugar crash! With the added health benefits of maca powder and chia seeds, it's the perfect nourishing breakfast or snack! - Kira Constable
- 2 large frozen bananas (ripened, peeled and sliced)
- 1 medium avocado (peeled and de-seeded)
- 2 large handfuls of spinach
- 2 tbsp chia seeds
- 1 tsp maca powder
- 1-2 tbsp cacao powder
- 1.5 cups coconut or almond mylk (add more depending on how thick you want the smoothie)
- 2 tbsp coconut nectar (optional)
- Step 1In a blender, combine the peeled and sliced frozen bananas, avocado, spinach, chia seeds, maca powder, plant-based mylk of choice and the optional coconut nectar.
- Step 2Blend the contents until everything is smooth and creamy, scraping down the sides from time to time. Add more mylk at this point if a thinner consistency is preferred. Make sure to taste at this point and adjust to the preferred level of sweetness. Blend again.
- Step 3Divide half of the smoothie between 2 serving glasses. Add in 1-2 tbsp of the cacao powder to the remaining half of the smoothie and blend once again.
- Step 4Divide the cacao-blended smoothie between the 2 serving glasses on top of the avocado layer. Spinkle with chia seeds and enjoy!
