We've gone back to our roots, and developed four very special new Dark Chocolate bars, with the added benefit of Superfoods! Read on to get to know them...

Cacao – the original superfood

The cacao we use is grown by the Ashaninka community in the Peruvian Amazon. We’ve worked with the Ashaninka cooperative Kemito Ene since 2015, and their cacao is very special. It is shade-grown under the forest canopy as it has been for generations, preserving the forest while providing a sustainable income for the community. These traditional farming methods are naturally regenerative, retaining carbon in the soil, and keeping it fertile for future crops.

We trade directly with Kemito Ene, paying an above fair-trade price for their cacao.

Unlike the majority of commercial cacao, our beans are not roasted. This really showcases the complex flavour of these high quality beans, as well as retaining much higher antioxidant levels. The 69% dark chocolate in our Superfood Chocolate bars is made from bean-to-bar in our Melbourne factory, using sustainably-grown, raw organic Australian cane sugar - read more about that here. 

The Wellbeing Bar

Flavour profile: Lemongrass & Davidson Plum

Superfood: Wild-crafted Gubinge (Australian-grown)

This tasty bar is fresh, zingy and zesty, with the goodness of native Australian superfoods Davidson plum, and wild-crafted Gubinge (pronounced - Gu as in Up, Binge as in hinge). Wildcrafting is the practice of harvesting plants as they grow in their natural habitat. Our Gubinge is wild-crafted in the Kimberley by the Twin Lakes Cultural Park mob – the traditional Nyul Nyul owners of that country.

Gubinge is a potent and natural, wholefood source of Vitamin C. The Loving Earth Wellbeing Bar has 7.8mg of Vitamin C per serving – about a fifth of the recommended daily intake! And the benefits of Gubinge don’t stop there – the fruit is incredibly high in antioxidants and is believed to have antibacterial properties.

The Happy Gut Bar

Flavour profile: Peppermint & Aniseed

Superfood: Organic Marshmallow Root

We like to think of this bar as our jazzed-up ‘after dinner mint’.

Peppermint has long been used as a soothing herbal digestive. Studies show that peppermint oil has anti-spasmodic properties, and its commonly used as a remedy for relieving abdominal pain & discomfort. We’ve put a spin on the classic choc-mint combo with aniseed. Liquorice-like in flavour, it’s believed to be analgesic (pain-relieving), and have bloat-reducing properties.

Finally for a really happy gut, we’ve rounded out the Loving Earth Happy Gut Bar with Marshmallow root. This is a superfood herb that has mucilaginous properties, which simply means it forms a soothing and protective layer over the digestive tract.

The Beauty Bar

Flavour profile: Blueberry, Macadamia, & Hibiscus

Superfood: Organic Lucuma

Certified organic and rich in antioxidants, the chewy dried blueberries in this bar are more than just delicious. Blueberries are often touted as a ‘beauty food’, thanks to their anthocyanin content – this is the antioxidant compound that gives fruits and vegetables a deep red or purple colour.

Doubling up on the antioxidants, The Loving Earth Beauty Bar also contains the Incan superfood Lucuma. This traditional ingredient is high in antioxidants and polyphenols, which are believed to combat signs of ageing caused by oxidative stress, by scavenging free radicals.

Rounding everything out and bringing some crunch, we have macadamias. Buttery, rich, Australian-grown, and a source of nourishing good fats to reduce skin inflammation, and support skin barrier function.

The Recovery Bar

Flavour Profile: Orange & Ginger

Superfood: Organic Maca

Maca is a root vegetable that has been traditionally used in the Andes for centuries. It is well known for its purported adaptogenic properties, and hormonal benefits. Use of Maca dates to ancient times, when warriors would use it to boost strength and stamina before battle – hence its nickname, “Peruvian Ginseng".

The Loving Earth Recovery Bar will be your best-bud when you need to rest and recoup, whether you’re needing a boost post-workout, or just want the perfect block of choccy to enjoy on the couch during PMS. Whatever it is you need, adaptogenic Maca is included to help the body re-balance, respond to stress, and lift mood.

This bar also has the warming spice of organic ginger, and crystallised ginger – soothing, anti-nausea, and anti-inflammatory.
